I'm using powder from the same can so that's not an issue. I'm not using a progressive press and I operate the powder bar the same each time. I'm sure about that.

Your load data should specify an overall length which should put you right around that crimp groove.

Maybe the pressure would be a little less since there's not as much bearing surface of the bullet dragging against the brass. Sounds like a test for the Mythbusters.

I got a used lee mold but one or two of the cavities are not squared on the ends or something. Whe. I cast I get so.e bullets that have a little mushroom to them. Is it worth trying have a machinist...

I have the 155 mold but not the 160. Just looking at the lee mold chart it looks like the 160 is a touch longer though.

Well that didn't take long for a response from him...

His input: where are you going to find a 300+ gr .338 mold? And even then it'll only drop zinc at 180gr.
