I think I figured it out.
I used the internal band from the 45 ACP die and ADDED it to the internal band for the 45 Colt. The Colt band was at the bottom touching the bullet/case while the 45...

I am using two steps.
Seating has been done with both the RCBS 45 Colt and 45 ACP die -- they seem to perform the same.
Crimping has been done with the Lee 45 ACP factory, roll crimp.
I feel...
I only have 5 grains of W231, so lots of spare room. I'll pull the seating die and see if there is a lot of lead.
Hi,
I've scored some of Starline's Cowboy Special brass. They are used for shorter 45 Colt cartridges. They have the length of 45 ACP, but can be loaded into 45 Colt revolvers, although they won't...

I got a big batch of 223 that I need to trim. I was all set to buy the RT1500 from Dillon, but they are backordered about a year for trimming dies.
Does anyone know if the lee quick trim die...
When "working up", when do you stop? I have a 173grain hollow point from NOE -- I really like them. There is little load data for cast, especially for 40 cal. I will use W231, 700-x or WST. I...

Collator plate sticking.
I'm working on my first one and having a few minor issues. The collator plate seems rough as the motor turns it. I was wondering if there was a good way to smooth edges...

22LR Sharpshooter says that he is working on a die for cups (not anvils) and it should be ready in a week or two (that was last week).
I've made some primer cup holders (3D print) that I've been...

Has anyone made primer loading plates as described by, "The Poor Man's Primer Manual" by George B. Dmitrieff. Or does anyone know of someone who has done this?

I order about 4 months ago and it did take a while to get. He had my order. A friend ordered about 2 months ago and this week was told that his order was getting ready. I assume that Sharpshooter...

As I work with more of the details of shooting, and especially swaging, it has become obvious that I want to develop some skills with my lathe.
Following up on Just Bill's request, are there any...

A new-guy question. I've made/shot about 75 trying out different tips and weights. Mostly just trying to figure out how things work. So far, they have make very nice holes in paper at 25 yards.

The simple joys of life -- shooting cans
For 3D printers, I though that the typical ones have plastic with some bronze in it. Thus, you are really shooting with plastic. Might work? They do...

Thanks for the high level review of the key steps. I've seen lots of techniques, but was I wasn't sure which piece was good for which step.

Mustang,
Very useful to get the range that works well. I was trying to get 52-55 grains.
I've been closing the tip too much, so too much would come out when I would go on the high side. Then...

I asked three companies about insurance for manufacturing ammo. Two didn't respond and the other one said that they can't find any companies that will take on ammo risk.

Getting more into black powder (because you can actually find it in the stores), I wanted to check as to the easiest way to clean the guns.
I've been told that hot water is the key. However, I've...

I made some black powder and tried it out in my 38 SPL revolvers. It worked quite well, but it was very messy. It was much more than American Pioneer FFFg. I even had a coating over the outside of...

Does anyone know how to make #10 caps?
Has anyone looked at making dies to take brass/coper to draw it to make #10 caps (rather than just folding the corners)?

I suggest getting the right stuff. I have no idea what perchlorate would result in. I know waiting and shipping costs is a drag, but you don't want an unstable compound.

You make glass powder yourself. My 1st batch was just ground up glass from an old lightbulb. I have a mortar and pestle, then grind it until it is as small as I have patience for.
