i think the forming rod as it is called might be pressed into the bottom piece. there is no way he made that all one piece. you have a better view of the top and bottom and sides?

the forming rod is machined too small. it should be about .283, not .271. the disc punch looks like it needs sharpening.it should be making clean cuts. i have built ed smith style single stroke check...

i have built 4 check makers. all ed smith design single stroke.built a 22 caliber, 243, 270, and 30 caliber check makers. i make mine so the check is a snug fit on the shank of the bullet.
