Yes. I gave it up. I shoot low velocity pistol target loads only. So... no discernible benefits. For my purposes, it was more work than what it was worth.

I have tried everything....the last being powder coating. Quite frankly, as a bullseye pistol shooter I have yet to notice any difference in my scores. Seriously thinking about going back to casting...

I have used non stick foil with bullets standing or, lying on the side. Either one works fine.

Bangerjim......thanks. Will try that.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Today I tried shake/bake as per Bangerjim's instructions that have been posted here. Worked great....In fact better than with my ES coating with HF gun (I'm still pretty low on the learning curve...

1- Bullseye. Only thing I need for target pistols.

Tried my VHT coated bullets today (148 grain .357 over 4 grains of Bullseye). Not baked. They spent a couple of hot days in the sun.
My results were terrible.... Smoky, lots of leading and more...

Count me in as one of those who don't want to mess around with oven baking....... However, living in South Fl, we do have that blazing sun. Have sprayed and put in a metallic tray and I'm going to...

My CV 500 is going on 20 years now. Happy to say that it still and, has always, worked fine.

Bigslug......
All the advice you have gotten here is probably very good and I can't argue with any of it. However, my only comment is that you should not obsess over reloading techniques and...

I upgraded..... Thanks for the heads up. I also donated money. Obama and his current pals are the most dangerous bunch of demagogues this country has seen in a long time. Do not underestimate...

Dillon presses sell very close to their "new" price due to the excellent life time warranty offered by Dillon. Obviously, you have to offer some discount to make a buyer interested.....otherwise he...

Range lead is all I use. Not a clue at how hard it is! Works fine for me in 38/44/45. All I load is light target velocities...

Worked fine for me when I used to use my lubrisizer (I now tumble lube everything that will chamber as cast). Just adjust your sizer so that you get as many of the little ridges as you can on the...

Smokemjoe,
Yes, there is a rimfire "Colt Gold Cup"being marketed by Colt. I did shoot one recently belonging to a friend. After we fiddled with the trigger pull to get it down to 3.5 lbs, the...

I use the Bass Pro fish fryer..... Supposedly 58,000 btu's. Will melt around 40 pounds in about 25 mins.

I started with an RCBS lubesizer..... Then I discovered how much easier life is with Alox tumble lubing!
I now only use the sizer for those bullets that won't chamber as cast from the mold. So,...

Your bullets look fine.... In fact, at first I thought you were were trying to show off!
As for your "old timer".... sounds like he is a jerk. God knows there are a lot of them around any gun...

I pay .20 per lb to a guy who mines the berm. If I mine the berm... it's free but, its a PITA.
I have not worked out the math on what my net yield is (my range scrap brings a lot of berm sand),...

Yes! 16 it is..... Went back to my box and I found some smaller ones that were unlabeled. They are smaller than the 17's and are indeed thicker and provide a tighter seal. Sorry for steering you...

Checked my O rings.....I have size 18 and 17. It must be 17 because I remember the first one i purchased was too big!
You might even try 16....
