Picked up a Contender a couple months back with carbine length barrels in 218 Bee & 32 H&R, both from the custom shop. So little recoil from the 32, & pretty accurate to boot. What's not to like?

Almost sounds like the barrel isn't fitting up tight when you have those 2 problems. Maybe your gun just doesn't like those loads though, or you have a detonation issue with that combo. Tried other...

Had one of mine apart before too for loosening screws. Just felt kinda funny when I had it out shooting. Ended up putting some clear nail polish on that screw myself. Wish they would have shouldered...

The die on the left looks to be an expander for the case mouth. I have lots of "310" type dies & all the full sets have an expander for using cast bullets. On the right is most likely the cast bullet...

Here's a 6" target I shot at 100 yds with mine. Still have lots of trigger time needed to tighten it up I think, but definitely promising.

Should be fine with 224 stuff. I do much larger stuff on an Inline Fab mount, but not the QC, though I'm thinking of trying it. I use one for my Co-Ax presses & a Dillon 550. Here's what I have setup...

The threaded portion is only 5/8" if I remember correctly, so the 5/8" handle should be OK too, I imagine. Suppose it's possible it may bend some, but nothing ventured..............

First off, welcome to the obsession that swaging is for some of us anyway. Best of luck finding a used WH or Corbin press for less than new. Far & few between it seems, & those that I do see posted...

Don't know how it works with larger calibers, but I've had good success getting a stuck 6mm bullet out by using a small piece of lead core on the base to force it deeper till the nose punch would...
