For my new model Win Sporter - 38-55.
An easy mold to cast with and makes great boolits. I powdercoat them and it is equally deadly on paper as well as HOGS. I cast about a BHN 11.3.

I only size after powder coating. I let the boolits cool to around 90 degrees, then size them.

I’m not expert, but I read a bit about lube/no lube rings on a cast bullet before I placed an order. We had several conversations along the way.
I have PC’d 9mm, 10mm, 38-55 with no issues and...

I have recently had Accurate make me a 32-20 mold with the standard Lyman 311316 tip and straight walls for powder coating. I’ll shoot it in a S&W 1905 4”. Haven’t used it yet.

Start a new history for yourself……..Who knows, maybe the Henry will become another 39a someday, and you’ll already have one! Me, I’ll keep the Golden 39A.
My 1911 model 1905 3rd change 4 shoots 115gr to point of aim out to 12 yards, at least. Im going to load 231 from 3.1 to 3.4 and chrony. Also when I start casting Ill use an Accurate mold I am...
Good to know! Just got my RCBS Cowboy dies and the expander is only 312. Good info!
Im in the same task for an old S&W 1905 revolver.
Ive had experience with cast bullets and the use of M dies as described above. Ive ordered a set of RCBS Cowboy Dies in 32-20, along with a #1...
Be sure and get a die set with a M die expander…….Tight chambers will hang if the brass it too large where the boolit is parked.
I use Lee 401-175-TC. I use it on hogs in a carbine platform and the G20. Killed out to 120 yards with carbine at 1600 fps. Not sure in 1911, but works fine in the carbine chamber.

I’ve been watching this thread. I’ve searched some sources and have discovered this one from a chemistry site:
It is probably lead carbonate PbCO3, because it is white, and lead(II) oxide is...
Thanks Jreid,
It helps when you know all the words in the post. I did a quick check and still get tons of posts without anything in my search criteria; plain, ‘xxx’, “xxx”, xxx and xxx, etc. It...
Having prior experience is priceless, and Im old enough that I understand that. Reloading over 45 years and casting/powder coating over 4 years now. All is fine. I figure if someone with a like...

That said, recently Ive been picking up some Prime NY Strips. I Salt and Pepper them, then reverse sear. I am really enjoying them. I eat um straight up,...
My post concerns allow properties and how it effects growth/shrinkage when bullet is dropped from mold. Will a .311 mold drop .311, or .314, or .310.

Be sure and slug it. My NEW Sporter slugged .375, and Winchester so stated. 24” Barrel and I use IMR4198. 4895 will leave lots of unturned powder in tube.
Thanks for the info. If I choose this mold, I’ll go with .314”. and a tolerance of .001 +/-. I’ve found the bullets I’ve already shot were .313 to .314 and shot great; POA and on target. If my...
Thanks Bigslug. I’ve been looking at that exact mold. Not being sure about COAL, the grooves may need to remain.
Thanks Kai.
My concern on size is that my melt seems to always drop large. I am trying to limit having to tweak on my melt to adjust to the mold. In your case, using .313 and dropping .314, I...
