Is there a maker of a .38-55 boolit mold with a hollow base?

First off sorry for the poor quality of the video...Here is how to break-down a Winchester Model 1885 for cleaning. This applies to both the Low Wall and High Wall. I made this video after finding...

Starline makes two different lengths of .38-55 brass. Anyone know the length a circa 1889 Winchester model 1885 will take?

Harry, do you lubrisize your .41 Colt bullets upside down like Windy Kid City stated? And do you use Lyman or RCBS? They have correctly sized dies.

That's neat you made a compression die for a hollow base.
I tried the three loads I mentioned and 17gr of Goex FFFg gave the best group. I have over 400rnds of the 19gr stuff currently loaded...

Are you using the Rapine with the smaller hollow and filling with 15gr? I just did an experiment where I drilled out the flash hole in a full length case, seated a bullet (large hollow @ 184gr) and...

How deformed do you mean? I just took a few apart and they look like this, compared to an unused one. The base of the bullet is pockmarked but I see no major deformation. I think I will try...

I use Starline cases with a 184gr Rapine 386185 HB and get 19gr of BP. How much are you compressing the powder and where do you crimp? Mine are crimped in about the middle of the front driving band.

I made this for .41 Colt but the idea should work for any heeled boolit.
I got the idea from pics I found in a search on the net.
I made the die out of stainless steel on a lathe basically...

My two Rapines are the same. The old cast handled version has a real short hollow plug while the one I bought new last year with the stamped handles has a longer hollow. I'm playing around with...

A NEW gun produced in .41 Colt?? COOL! :drinks:
I contacted Bernie at OWBM inquiring about a .44-40 with a hollow base and he says he has one similar to Lyman's 42798 with a hollow base.
Does anyone have experience with this particular...
I use a Rapine 386185HB. I'd like another but they shut down right after I bought mine.
I bought a two-cavity NEI .41 Colt hollow base mold but the hollow pins were ****, not to mention the...
Thanks for the offer w30wcf but I live in Canada and boolits can't be shipped across the border without paper work.
Those magma molds look good, I see the one listed under 44Cal. I ended up...
Those 222gr look like they were cast off the NEI #246B mould. The 210gr look like what the Rapine would cast. I can't buy boolits across the border because I live in Canada, but thanks.
Thanks! I think one of them is 430210HB according to an ebay sale I was a few weeks late on.
I found some info on the net that says they made two for the 44-40 that were hollow base. I'd like the model numbers so I can try to track one down.
What about a hollow base boolit if a larger diameter will not chamber? I shoot hollow base boolits in my .41 Colt revolvers.
What if you cast with pure lead, would you generally get larger or smaller bullets?
When a mould lists ".430" nominal diameter" what does that mean? Will it drop smaller or larger most of the time, and by how much?
Can bullet sizers make a bullet larger?
This was mentioned to me before, I don't know off hand. Can you cast chambers? How do you measure this?
I want to cast for an old BP Winchester in .44-40. It slugged to .432" but all .44-40 moulds I have seen have been .430" at the largest. I looked at some at Buffalo Arms and Lee.
Didn't charge me more, perhaps that's why he did such a lousy job on the hollow base pins?
cliff335, you are a brave man to want to deal with them again.
I ended up fixing up the originals. I recut the hollow form on the same angle with a proper sharp base this time. They came out a little longer than originally, though overall shorter and I needed...
