Water dropping while casting then heating bullets up to 400deg for 15-20m undoes any gain. You are better off air cooling & water dropping out of the PC oven imo.

Bullets are rarely plug & play. Change to a diff one, you should back off & work up. At max, everything matters.

You would have to put a heck of a lot of PC to have the bullet not fit most pistols. I have used it, works fine in a GLock OEM.

I do not think there is any restrictions on selling any components, maybe black powder. Ammo can't be sold to anyone now. Selling your own bullets is technically a Fed violation, but who is to say...

The 454 does take 0.451"-0.452" jacketed. So I would go at least 0.453" for cast. As notes slugging is preferred but its not required.

I have access to 100s of # of pure. I trade it for lino or ingots of clip ww.

I dont bother. I have known pure lead & lino ingots. If i have mystery metal i just bang it against the lead or lino. If it dents it will make a bullet.

So its specific to a given powder, ok. I still think its changing the alloy. The baking time element isnt really an issue, you can be doing other things.

I PC, fully understand the process. I question how baking 30min makes them easier to size, unless they are air cooled & softening the alloy.

Not really. Speer shows 8.2gr getting 1150 with gdhp. I wouldnt go that hot but 1100fps is pretty easy. I have run 8.1gr under the RemGS, 8.2gr under 185xtp for 1100 in a 5”, but i consider that max....

Yeah you need a slower powder than RD Unique is a good choice, easily hit 1100fps. I imagine BE86 works even a bit better. Its basically PP without the blast.You really need a chrono to get there....

Both TC & RN load fine in moon clips. If its just hitting steel, I would go 110 or even 90gr bullets, zero recoil.

Not saying it isnt true but unless you use identical alloy & temps, your bullets will vary in size. You would have to measure dozens each time you cast, not a couple each.

I have some setup to test in a Ransom rest this spring. I'll let you know. I have ALox, a stick lube & PC & HT coated. I dont expect much diff at 25y.

That just has never been really true. Final as cast size will vary with alloy & casting temp. Sure, use the exact alloy & exact temp, you might get the a bullet that drops the preferred size but not...

I can shorten your time, dont bake for 30min, no real point, 15min in a preheated oven is plenty.

Almost impossible to get a mold that throws exactly the correct final size bullet because, as we all know, casting temp & alloy controls final size. Then of course coating adds size too.
