Yep, I did about 300 .314 to .312 coated bullets, all the coating stayed on. No problems.

Another vote for a '92. Look for a factory style mold, that should cut out the feeding problems. Lee Factory Crimp Dies are your friend!

I also shortened the magazine spring somewhere between 4 and 5 inches, that made all the difference!

If he is just controlling pop cans, that bullet, if it's the right diameter, should be just fine.

40-82 is a wonderful cartridge, loads easy, feeds like a dream, a little less recoil than a 45-70. It does use a 2.4" case, but 45 years ago I used 2.1" 45-70 cases, and 41 Mag pistol bullets!
