Hi,
I bought a used NEI full bore 835 gr slug mold, which I intend to load for my Winchester SXP Extreme Deer (Rifled barrel).
I have 2 3/4" Cheddite hulls and Hodgdon Longshot powder. I also...
I will only use it for plinking and paperpunching, using mild/medium loads. The cartridge will be crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp die.
The hollowpoint idea, is purely "because I can". And...
I click two buttons. Boom. Done. No need for calculators. :p
I can do it manually, no problem. But that's just a waste of time. When I have a good tool for it in my CAD program.
My CAD program tells me the weight of the boolit, with the right density.
With pure lead, my boolit will weigh 152 gr. I haven't checked with the hollowpoint.
Seing that folks on this site shoots...
I'll make everything myself.
I'm a toolmaker, specialized in pressure molds. So making the mold itself is no sweat. I just don't know squat about designing bullets.
The Mountainmold program,...
Hi guys,
I'm tinkering with the thought, about making a smooth walled swc boolit mold, for my .357 Mag.
But my Google-fu draws a blank, on designing the boolit.
Where do I find some...
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
I have shot a decent amount of PC boolits through my cans, and haven't experienced anything negative yet.
It's a little extra work, but it is probably the best solution, for the best result.
Thanks.
I usually just buy my molds, since they don't normally cost a whole lot. But my friend asked me nicely, if I could make one for his new rifle, for powdercoating.
I have measured the bore on his...
Thanks people!
I'll try my luck with the 405 gr RCBS mold :)
Perhaps I were not specific enough in my question.
I know many of the manufacturers, and that is all well and good.
What i seek is THE bullet/mold. I do not wish to buy several molds. I just...
I currently have a couple of Lee molds, for my Marlin 1895 GBL.
But the molds from Lee are kinda hit'n miss. So now I'm on the market, seeking for an upgrade.
I seek an all purpose bullet...

Awesome back-yard neighbor-friendly ammunition.

I bought myself an ESPC gun, and started experimenting.
It just looks so much better, than drytumble.

Excellent result!
I were not satisfied, with the paintjob i did on the boolits in my picture, after giving some of them the smash test.
So i re-did them last night, and now they can take a...

I hope you are able to read the text.
The painter, should have my boolits powdercoated by now. So I'm looking forward, to seeing the result.
Forum: Gas Checks
I'm already on that one.
I have a batch of bullets sent, to someone with powdercoat equipment.
Furthermore, today (No kidding), i have been coating and baking boolits, with red epoxy-topcoat. ...

Roger that. I'll lube them then...

Thanks for the quick answers!
Forum: Gas Checks
The boolits are for subsonic .308, if that makes any difference.
Forum: Gas Checks
I have cast a bunch of boolits, using Lee .309 160 & 180 gr mold.
I planned on using a gas-check on them, but then i wondered. Is lube necessary when using gas-check?
