What would be a good velocity to shoot for with an 80gr cast bullet? What velocity did you guys have luck with?
I tested 18gr of IMR-4198 and got 1796fps I don't really have any load data to go...
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
Looking into what powders I can use for heavier 75-80gr GC cast bullets that will cycle an AR15.

Alright looks like I need to try a different powder thanks guys I was trying to find another use for the IMR-4350 since I got an 8lb keg of it. But I'll just keep using it for the Mosin I had good...

I wonder if that could be due to a worn recoil spring or maybe it needs a different gas plug
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I tested out some 190gr cast bullets for my M1 Garand yesterday and they shot pretty well with 36gr of IMR-4350 but the smoke was pretty bad. It was actually almost musket level where I could no...
I've been reloading rifle/pistol ammo for about 10 years now but shot shell reloading is so confusing to me. How do you guys know what to use for things like round ball, russian slugs, buck n ball...
I have a mold on the way from Russia for my Savage 220 rifled slug gun.
I have a good amount of HS-6 powder to use so if anyone has some data on that with this slug that would be awesome.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
I made some test loads 6rnds of 36,38,40, & 42gr I'll see what shoots best.
I'm looking to make that same load for my Savage 320 I'm getting ready to order that Russian mold.
Are you using a screw to attach it to the wad?
How much do those slugs weigh?
I just got a Savage 220 looking for more slug load ideas.

I have an 8lb jug of this powder with about 7-1/2 lbs left from when I had a 7mm mag. I no longer have any use for it but I would like to start loading some powder coated gas checked bullets for my...

Has anyone slugged the bore on one of these rifles?
I emailed Henry and they replied "Our .45-70 bbl drawings call for a .450(+2/-0) bore diameter."
This is for a smoothbore 590 Shockwave in 20-Gauge 14" barrel no chokes I'm using a .570 Hornady round ball you can see where the flat spot is on the ball this is from the roll crimper, I tried one...
It's in a wad but I trim the petals to about halfway on the ball since I dont think I want to roll crimp the wad. It just rattles when you shake it up and down not much sideways movement.
I made a few 20ga single round ball loads but the crimp tool hits the ball before going any further down. So I'm thinking of using an over card to get a good roll crimp and keep pressure on the ball...
Thats perfect more than enough range for a smooth bore 20ga shockwave. Did you empty the shot from a birdshot shell or was this reloaded from an empty?
I've heard of people doing this for 12ga but I can't seem to find any info for 20ga anyone have any ideas on making cheap slugs for 20ga?

Looking for some advice on what bullet to use for a Uberti brass framed Winchester 1866 musket replica with a 30" barrel.

Hi everyone I wanted to know what is a safe way to clean the brass receiver after firing Black power loads.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I'm checking midway for bullet moulds just wondering what diameter bullets are best for this? There seem to be .50 cal moulds but several different diameters.
