Yes, I can confirm it is not the primer pocket.

Update again.....I put some case lube on my fingers and rolled the edge of the primer around and they seat like you'd expect a primer to seat. I think there is a micro burr around the bottom edge...

Hate to bump an old twice bumped old old thread, but...........I found myself at the bench tonight priming new Starline 45 ACP with {old} brown box CCI 300's. The ones where the primers lay sideways...
