I'd just like to know if Big Slick is alright. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would just walk away without saying goodbye. I just fear something bad must have happened...

I just googled "Glockpost is gone" and found your post....
I miss it too, been wandering aimlessly through several forums like a man without a country.

My 336 and 1895 wear low power scopes but my 1894 44mag has a set of XS ghost rings that is a vast improvement over the factory buckhorn. I have to admit to this making a handy configuration.

If you go with some of the 1-4X options it is as quick as a red dot on 1X and good magnification for long shots at 4X.
Check out the Leupold 1-4X Hog.

I have a couple of reloading manuals to draw from but I have a computer out in the "Boolit Hut / CRB Land" that I generally just pull load data from Hodgdon's site. I just naturally started in the...

Very interesting read.
I think I can see the writing on the wall....
I'll be pulling the remainder just in case.
Thanks for that M-Tecs ;-)

I ran a few factory loaded Winchester 300gr. over the Chrony and they ran around 1650 fps.

Being as I wasn't having any pressure signs, I put a few over the Chrony today: 2227 fps and 2226 fps.

I wonder where the numbers listed came from and why they seem so disproportional to at least a few other sources....
I will probably pull the last 10 or so I have loaded and revisit with the start...

I started with the recommended 53.7gr and worked up to 55gr and still had no pressure signs...
here's the load page from Hodgdon's site:...

Today being Presidents Day, I took the day off to celebrate.
I cleaned and trimmed all the 45-70 brass that I had on hand to load some 300gr pills for the 1895 Marlin.
When I pulled the load data...
The biggest reason I like the 40 is capacity compared to the same size gun in 45.
It's also in my opinion a better stopper than the 9 and close to or equal to the 45acp due to the velocity it...

The aperture or ghost ring sights are actually a big improvement over the factory buckhorn sights and they keep the gun in a light/handy configuration. I changed my mind on moving the Redfield to my...
Wow, I thought a "Shadetree" had tried to dress it. Didn't realize you were referring to yourself as Bubba.
In this case "Bubba" did alright.:-P
It's amazing what makes it past QC sometimes....
Looks like a big improvement.
Any idea what Bubba used to dress it before you got it or what he was trying to accomplish?
This is what happens when you let your GLOCK sleep next to your SP101.
A few months later you have a LCR-X3 eating up all your ammo.

reminds me of this for some reason:

I had the same issue when I first got my adjustable charge bar loading some 38's.
When loading 3grain'ish loads of Tight Group the powder tends to bridge sometimes.

I started out with the LCT and added a progressive later on.
I batch load all my rifle on the LCT, you can just keep a tighter rein on what's happening.
I had the predecessor, the LC9 and the size was great, a little smaller than the Shield but I had a couple of issues that I couldn't get past.
I never really could get used to the long stagey...

Nothing like taking a new gun to the bathroom for some alone time....like the kid from A Christmas Story with his new Little Orphan Annie decoder ring, for cryin' out loud!

I recently picked up a '83 Marlin 1894 44 mag in poor condition for a great price due to condition.
Someone had taken a belt sander to the stock at some point during a botched refinish attempt.

I've never been scoped except the time when I was a kid bragging that I could shoot my 270 with one hand...caught the whole gun with my face.
You probably shot under the deer if it was that close...

Probably be more effective on vampires...
Other than that I think it could only hurt bullet performance.

Nice job! Reloading is a labor of love, so is tinkering.:-P
