Asking about the strength of the Taylor / Uberti Burgess 1886 Carbine Action Strength.
What is a "2nd tier level loads"
Forum: Leverguns
Does anyone have any idea how strong these guns are?
Are they Buffalo Bore 1892 Winchester .45 Colt strong?
Or are they strictly Black Hills Cowboy Action strong?
Thanks!

After a bit of work I was able to make enough ammo to actually enjoy my VZ-52. This gun has a very nice bore and shoots perfectly with the "new" ammo. The ammo was made from PPU 7.62x39 blanks. I...

I'm using Imperial Sizing wax, so you really don't feel much resistance. I have tried going 1/2 way and turning them. Mixed success. The main culprit of the tears seems to be some tiny left over...

I got a few hundred of the PPU 7.62x39 Blanks to play with and so far the results have been good. I've fiddled with my process a bit and I think I have it down to a workable process. No machining...

I use QuickLoad. But using 7.62x39 data as a starting point will be safe.
7.62x39 = 45k PSI
7.62x45 = 62k PSI

I have a supply of Buffalo Arms Hornady 220 Swift converted to 7.62x45. They work fine, but are like $2 each. Just for the hell of it I got some PPU 7.62x39 blanks to try and convert them to 7.62x45....

I was having issues making good, reliable .32ACP ammo with lead bullets so I went back to basics and slugged a few bores.
Quite a variation in bore sizes. No wonder I was having issues with the...

That is why I'm asking. I've purposely avoided all black powder guns my entire life. So this is new to me.

So any ideas on loads for this old war horse? Can I just stuff some Trail boss under a heavy lead bullet?
Forum: Leverguns
Yeah, I'm not one to hot rod old guns. Would be nice if I could shoot it with Trail Boss etc.

So I came across and old ~1893'ish according to the 908xx serial number Marlin in 38-55. It is not marked for Smokeless or BP. It does not have a model number of any sort. ~26" Octagon barrel with a...
Funny to see this here since I had dinner with the owner and his two delightful boys last night in CDA. PRP makes the best XD parts, among many other things. I've been installing PRP trigger kits in...
I loaded 6 of the new Starline cases 11x today before I ran out of light.
3.8g of N320 @ 630FPS and 4.6 of HP38/W231 @ 680FPS were the last two before I had to stop.
250g Western cast "Webley"...

I figured as long as I'm not the guy doing the modifying it absolves me of all sin. Taking a special order 1892 Takedown and converting it...

My wife found this for me. It's an original 1892 takedown that was converted to .357 Magnum at some point in it's life. The gun did not work properly when I got it. I analyzed the issues it was...
All German guns have a distinct ejection pattern . . . out of the gun. You almost need some sort of brass umbrella when you shoot a Luger.
Yup, sold mine and that was one of the reasons. Pitching my brand new Starline brass into the next county . . . . grumble . . . grumble . . .
A set of perfectly serviceable Lee .455 Webley dies is only ~$31 from Midway. Just an FYI . . .
