My reference to base riveting is during the firing sequence, pressure riveting the base before it gets to the neck.

Another possible scenario is the base riveting. Something to consider.

You could try putting an even coat of "mould release agent" in the cavities. A rag wetted with solvent to clean the block faces after it dries. The best use for "release" agent I have found.

Torque converter swap not too bad once you have the trans pulled out. Pretty substantial job. Replace the #3 coil and I think you will be good.

It's legal to use center-fire here, I have used a 308 for years, 125 gr bullet and 4 grs of Promo. Lots of fun.
