Let me say something to you guys who have 32 caliber sixguns and have not had the throats properly corrected because they shoot "fine". The fact is, you might not be as Elmer Keith called it be...
John, if it was my gun, what I would try is a bullet right out of the mold. It would probably measure .3135" or better. I would want to shoot the greatest diameter bullet I could get to chamber so I...
Taylor throating for a sixgun was developed by Allen Taylor. Sadly, he is no longer with us. The following comments are from his son, Rev. Jim Taylor, Shootist.
It was developed for the sixgun by...
You are quite welcome Sir. If anyone has any questions about firelapping I will be happy to help.
In post #42, Doug gives precise information as to the correct size of the cast bullet you should be shooting. I'm quite sure both he and I would like to take a look at that cylinder and do some...
Just like my old friend Sixshot, I too had a Smith 28, the generation however escapes me. What doesn't escape me is what a shooter it was. If I could get the sights on it, it was toast. Like a...

The 327 is my absolute all time favorite sixgun cartridge. I have owned several full on customs but my current favorite is a FA97 5.5" octagon. I run a 135 grain hollowpoint at 1400 fps with ease....
Just because the box the bullets say .411" doesnt mean they are exactly that. Measure them with a micrometer to be sure they are the correct diameter.
On something like that, maybe firelap it some 15 shots or so and go back and test. Be sure to check to see if you have a "lube star" on your muzzle too.

If it has been 2 years, a phone call couldnt hurt IMO. Still, these things take time, especially the full 5 shot conversions or the ones that have to go out for CCH or barrel rebore or some such....
Beautiful. I love the 6" guns. For the 100th anniversary of the 1911 two years ago I presented myself with a 6" Les Baer Ultimate Master 45 auto. Keep us updated on how she shoots/functions for you!
Cost? Easily as much or more than a 5 shot big bore conversion. Never the less, he is getting quite a call for that item!
While I might say you might be pushing your FA97 a bit harder than intended, if you need a set of oversize stocks, you might try Blu Magnum grips by Tedd Adamovitch. I have seen a set he did for Bob...
Saint Jiminey but you sure like your sixguns a bit on the loud and rude side!!!!
Look in the active group buys section for the 32 Sixgun Sledgehammer. Over on Singleactions.com you will find quite a few 32/327 Federal threads as well.
Let me answer your original question and then make a couple of comments.
I wouldnt worry about enlarging my throats, I have not been able to measure any difference in mine and I have firelapped...
Yup. Got to looking for some 357 magnum brass some time back and started opening ammo cans. I discovered I had 5 ammo cans nearly full of various loaded 357 mag ammo..... Still shooting that stuff up!
