because it's a rimless case that should headspace on the case mouth. if you have a good extractor hook, it may headspace on the hook. too much crimp, not enough extractor hook and the case will sink...

I use dippers for the majority of my loads. Either Lee or I make my own from empty cases. Fast, accurate, and never noticed any difference on target. Just my experience

I'm inclined to think it was fired in a rifle chamber. If they were .45 Colt I'd have no doubt. Some of the pistol caliber long guns have yuge chambers.
