I bought the TMT cast bullet design software and find it excellent.
My only qualm with the GP100 44 Special is the wisp of a forcing cone.

I'd like to see photos after your modifications and cleaning regimen.

Bullet weight is but one variable in the equation. Seating depth is a significant factor as well.

Thanks for re-posting the photos! I have one of the Catshooter 454424 Lee GB molds and its one of my favorites.

Those Prochko SWCs were the “steel masters” mentioned in the monstrous Keith bullet thread by LAH. They were most definitely designed during Keith’s last years since Prochko and a Salmon ID gunsmith...

Hi GLL,
This thread reminds me of all the differing designs for the Lyman 454424 mold. You had posted a photo many times before showing your comparison. Would you be so kind as to repost that...
I'd sure appreciate if someone could point me to where Keith ever wrote his bullet was spec'd with 0.100" front band width.
Well, if Red River Rick hasn't PM'd you about his excellent Lyman DC sprue plates, I'll vouch for them. I have several and they are excellent. Better than Lyman makes. His mold handles are awesome...
I have a similar issue with a 4 cav brass 380 mold from NOE. The ratio of mold to bullet cavity is huge and if I didn’t preheat on a hot plate it took a really long time to drop non wrinkled bullets....
In his Pet Loads article (HL #320), Brian Pearce listed a couple standard pressure loads (14k psi) with Longshot...and only with the RCBS 270 SAA. I think Longshot has kind of high ES at low pressure...

Hi John,
To answer your question I think you have identical MP molds between the two, and your Lyman is close but not quite the same in dimensions. My 429421 seats about .010" deeper than the MP...
Astigmatism perhaps? Take a photo through the scope with the illumination on and see if it's still there.
Check the cylinder throats. These are notorious for measuring undersized. DougGuy is your man to hone them to proper size.
Well, that depends on what you know the original to be. Take a look at the 429421 Keith illustrates in Sixguns and compare that to the earliest of the Ideal molds. It's significantly different. Which...

Jeez, no. Delete this info. That was his 38/44 load, not his 38 Special load.
Have you measured the cylinder throats on your GP100? What were they out of curiosity. Mine pass a.402" minus gauge easily.

I sure miss Mountain Molds, his custom design model fit my needs. Tom makes a good mold, but he has some limitations on what angles he can incorporate into a design and can't do a square shoulder SWC.
This is complete fallacy. The area of the bullet base on a 45 projectile is larger than a 44 of course, but its not a huge difference. Do the math, force = pressure times area. We are talking...
Is that a simply rugged chesty puller rig? That's a fine piece of leather rigging for a fine revolver.

Someone probably scribed "EK" on the bottom.

What parts from your solid molds are lathe turned? Lots of your 45 solid molds have been out of stock for months. I really want one of those 454-308 4 cavity molds.
You don't need QL to know 231 is somewhat faster than Unique or Universal, and will come up to higher peak pressure for a set velocity compared with those two powders. Case fill rate is slightly...
