While you're collectively on primers,what's the difference chemically between modern flat top primers & the convex rounded type that fit the primer punch in my 'Ideal # 4" pliers type loading tool ?

Been using 3F Goex,XMP 5744 15gr behind Ly 40143 in Colt Lightning 25" bbl.
Would like to try V-V N-105. Results not to brag about,yet (hopefully).

Handloader magazine article appeared to accept that everybody knew about the jump in chamber pressure with gas checks. Been loading 40 yrs,never ran into info. Any help out there?

7/8-14 allthread rod can be bought in different conditions. Get the softest for
die mat'l-ease of machining. Harden later if needed. Good lathe project.

My 40143 also has an extra "0" in it, what they'd do to the 3115 LY would be a wonder if they still made it.
The 2 mentioned are in original (pre-Lyman) Ideal tools I use for 38WCF &32 S&W.
