I agree that using a boring bar is the best way to guarantee a round hole , I use a boring bar to get close and then a reamer but I use a barrel lap (Acro Lap ) after heat treat for the final finish.

+1 on getting a bigger lathe , mini lathes are fun but very limited especially when trying to cut 7/8x14 threads .

The die fits a Corbin S press and it was made on a lathe ,I converted the lathe to cnc myself but most of the machining was done manually from the tail stock except the threads which are a breeze...

I made the die with a 2mm meplat ,I was worried that extracting the bullet would be difficult but Iv'e had no problems yet.

I used brass lapps and diamond paste to polish the die before and after hardening.
