I know it's a tick short, but I use .221 Rem Fireball for .300 cases. The necks don't wind up thick and therefore do not require reaming. My dies are Redding with an RCBS shell holder.

Sweet looking set-up Simonpie! I re-barreled a crusty old Trapdoor for My son several years ago. Chambered it in .38-56. I tapered the barrel blank and set the barrel length to closely match an...

Take a look at ballistics for both 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC. 6.8 is a good cartridge but the 6.5 really shines past 400 meters.
Forum: Military Rifles
If you want an AR platform but really have disdain for 5.56, consider 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC Rem. I have a Grendel and LOVE it! Past 400 meters the 6.5 packs more energy than 7.62, shoots flatter and...

Depending on the primer size, Graf & Sons did have Berdan primers for sale. I loaded Berdan cases quite a bit many years ago when that's all I had for .303 and 7.62 X 54R. It's a bit more of a chore,...

I have 3 .38 S&W top breaks. I fire BP in all of them using a 125grn cast projo lubed with SPG. After shooting several rounds in a side match, cleanup was a breeze. Accurate little buggers too!

+1 That's why I think a Remmy pump in .358 makes sense. Would also love a 99 Savage in .358 as well!

I just found the mold that looks to be what I want. CBE makes it. 975 grn GC!
I use that Lyman mold and run them through My 92 FS Beretta with no hitches and great accuracy. Mine are sized .356
Wow! Happy I fould this thread!. CBE has the mold I want!

I've been using a Lyman 375248 in the Trapdoor I re-barreled to .38-56. Low recoil and shoots well with Goex cartridge grade BP. Lubed with Thompson Center bore butter
Forum: Boolit Lube !
The only lube I've forayed into was for My BP Cartridge rifles. Tried SPG and had decent results but fouling didnt stay as soft as I thought it should. Next came My own BW, Crisco and camfor oil....

Has anyone noticed, they don't call it global warming anymore? The new buzzword is climate change! Global warming boxed them in too much! Now they can modify they're BS claims to suit the situation!...
Forum: Boolit Lube !
Not to hijack your thread, but I've wondered the same thing. Years ago I bought 50,000 cast projos (way cheaper than I could cast them) and they were lubed with Red Rooster. I have a few sticks of...

The .50 DOES dwarf all other rounds I load as well! I used to thing the .45 X 2 7/8" round in my cartridge collection was huge! The .50 is a hungry bugger to load as well!

+1 on sleeving the chamber area and rechambering for .38-40/.38 WCF. I will say, MANY years ago P O Ackley took a .25-06 rifle and ran a .30-06 throating reamer into the chamber. Doing this allowed a...

I did pretty much the same thing, only I used an old aluminum arrow for my center core. Nice Job!

Anyone ever try General Ordnance Development molds? They have some good looking .50 BMG molds.

Shoot me a PM if you decide to part with the mold. Do you recall what weight boolit it drops?

Thanks for the data! I'm likely going to go for 700-900 grn range.

Recoil doesn't seem like it's going to be too bad. 12 gauge slug maybe! It has a very effective muzzle brake.
