I have no source for lead, I tried the local indoor range, they have a person who comes and cleans their backstops for the lead.
I have the tools, I don't want to cast. I have enough brain damage...

I have been reloading off and on since the 70's.
I used to be in the automotive industry and wheel weights were everywhere.
I've been away from reloading for awhile and now find that wheel...

Just won this Charles Daly Superior on our favorite auction site.
It is a Zastava MP22, Czech made, and from what I read pretty well at that.
Can't wait for it to show up, I've read mostly good...

Just got this Remington H&R Handi last weekend. Very late in production, which could be a problem, but the rifle looks right, locks up tight as a vault. And I got it cheap!!
Still working on...

Update! Just picked up this little RemH&R Handi-Rifle in .45/70!
Working on getting some sights built up for it, and then I will have 3 single shot .45/70's I'm set!

One reason I backed off to 30gr. was that most all of my manuals showed a load somewhere around the middle -upper 30's. It goes bang well enough, makes it to 100 yards and I don't have to worry about...

Great! I can even write load info on that big .45/70 brass!
I can run the brass through the full length dies and then mark the brass for each rifle.
Since they are single shots I won't have to...

So far, I have 74 rounds of nice brass to load and will have more as soon as I can find my kinetic hammer! LOL
Since the only .45/70's I now own are a nice 1886 Trapdoor and a #1 Rolling Block I...

Wow!
Just dumped a load of brass outa my tumbler and look what came up!
I am realizing that the last time I was reloading was about the time my wife passed away.
Obviously, I was seriously...

Around here collectible ammo seems to be a hobby that is running it's course.
There is very little antique ammo on the tables these days. I can always put them in my antique ammo collection

Wow! So my 30 gr. load is a bit soft for the trapdoor? Good to know, as I like the load.
Forum: Cast Boolits
I just tumbled up 20 rounds of brass and have another 20 tumbling.
I also have the maybe 100 year old loads you see that I would kind of like to run through my trapdoor and my rolling block, but...

I'm 72, have quit riding for several reasons. First my 27 year old grand girl lives with me and is terrified every time I swing a leg over a bike.
Second, my balance has been compromised for some...

Okay, folks.....
I'm the OP here, and we have 7 pages of opinions. The discussion is kind of teetering off the rails, and I'm asking that if you all want to continue on keep it civil. I got my...

I was reminded of a valuable lesson this morning.
It's a krappy day outside, the kids are gone to work, I got nothing to do.
So I grab up my beloved 340 Savage .30-30, a box of reloads and head...

I know! I have never seen that many MG42's in one place!
At the moment the Highway Dept. is making getting to their shop an effort, but it is worth the trip.

Bringing this thread back to the surface for an update!
Called Trinity Ordnance in Lake Worth Texas. "sure! Bring your lower to us, we will charge, maybe 1/2 hour labor,$30-40."
Took it to them,...

Wow! Never thought that I would stir up so much conversation! But I like seeing differing opinions on a subject, and especially when it doesn't turn into a name calling circus.

I have an Arisaka battlefield pick up that, unfortunately is too far gone to do anything with.
Shame too, I hear they are good actions to build a sporter on.

I plan to punch paper with it. But if the opportunity to hunt ever appears, maybe still hunt with it.
With that in mind, I'm going...
