A firing out of battery will produce the same thing.
I would consider that before anything.
I had a Smith 76 open bolt subgun that would do that on occasion, even with HOT loads!

Yup....same her only a bit worse in Strafford, NH.
Trees down every where and power lines broken everywhere.
Power out for 3 1/2 days.
50 gallons of gas worked out just fine.
Our generator runs...

I am finding that most pawn shops are putting their guns on Gun Broker or some other auction site. Rarely ever find anything surprises or deals any more.

Yes. Yours is a San Diego Star because of the blue paint (I think.)
I don't think they are any different with the Magma.

I'm not sure. I was at the very end of one lube stick and had just put a new one in. I let it soften then BANG! Out it popped when I cranked down on the handle.

I still haven't figured out what it is that we are supposed to be inspecting when the inspection plug is removed.
I the 30+ years I have owned mine, it has never been removed....not once.
Let's...

Oh, I certainly do understand. That's why i am reaching out.
To me, the Star sizer is THE most important piece of equipment I own. With Magma gone, I need to turn to those that know far more than...

This thing is truly screwed. I have done hundreds of thousands of cast bullets in the 30+ years I have owned it.
I know, in my head, that this is repairable but I don't want to try it.
How about a...

I was merrily buzzing along sizing/lubing/gaschecking my H&G # 237's (a fabulous 200gr swc 44 bullet - you can hot rod this bullet without breaking your wrists :) ) when the plug in the bottom of my...

What CCW? NH is a constitutional carry state.
I got mine anyway just to make sure of any question.
MA non-resident carry is an ANNUAL renewal and they make it as difficult and expensive as they...

Well here are the results: I wrapped a 410 ga brass cleaning brush with Chore Boy strands of copper, gave it a squirt of WD40 and spun it in the sizer die for 5 minutes, stopping to oil it a few...

I shot well over 1000 45 acp cast that looked just the same with the scratches on the drive bands.
No ill effects.
I just hate the way they look.
I'm sure that thousands of dollars of therapy...

To all: I bought a 410 ga bronze cleaning brush and spun it in a drill for a couple of minutes with some Hoppes #9.
I sized a few, and while it improved, it did not get rid of the marks totally. I...

Can you elaborate a bit? My thought is that the brass ball will have to be .429" since the sizer die is .430".
OR....just a brass ball and rub it back and forth, even if it is smaller?
I guess I...

I always thought the Star sizer was nose first. been doing it that way for many years.
I have never tried it base first.

I know this is all about the sizer die.
The facts: 4 cavity H&G #237 200gr lswc gc.

I have well over a ton of wheel weights to smelt. These are probably 20+ years old and back in the day I had a friend sell his tire shop and give me all I wanted for FREE!
