Nice work. What's the Fig. 11 E silhouette target look like again? If I recall correctly, isn't that the "little green man" pop-up target on moving ranges?

Okay- So here's what I've got: A 1930 Steyr M95 in 8x56r. The bore slugs at .335", I use Lee's 200 grain mould for the .338 Win., size it at .338" and then seat just off of the lands with a *light*...

Hey, all,
I'm having a lot of trouble loading for an M48 Yugoslavian Mauser right now. I've previously had very good success with this rifle, but after switching from 2400 to 5744 I can't get...

@CJR- Thanks for the pro-tips, I'll try those checks when I'm out shooting again.
@yondering- The rifling runs all the way out to the barrel's end, and it's in pretty good shape. I've shot...

Hope there's no hard feelings for resurrecting an old thread, but I've been out and about trying some new loads. I recently used the .323" bullets (re-sized to .316") in a vintage military rifle...

I keep hearing about this "green bar printer paper." What is it that makes it so good for paper patching? Is it the thinness or thickness relative to bore and bullet diameter, or is it the cotton...

Suggesting that I patch to match the inside neck-diameter of a fired case and then restarting the testing? I'll give it a whirl and see what comes up.

I was at the range this (very cold!) morning doing some shots with my new-to-me M95. I was firing some paper patched 170 grain bullets from re-formed 7.62x54r cases. I started with 20 grains of...

Well, I'm back from the range. I tried firing some 190 grain paper patched bullets in my 91/30 using Reloader 15. First set of five was "okay" with a baseball sized group at 50 yards, but I expect...

I worked up some paper patched bullets with Reloader 15, and just don't think that I'm doing it right.
I had a .316" diam. paper patched bullet for my 91/30, and it shot "okay" at 50 yards. It...
Ha, most people do it the other way around! They find a gun they want to shoot and then go find a mould to make it shoot better! However, it is the cheaper investment to start with a mould....

I contacted Lee with a description of the problem, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll find a way to make it right.

If I ever muster up the courage I'm going to try some paper patched 170 grain bullets with the BL-c(2). I bought up a couple pounds of the stuff some years ago on a job, and then I was stuck with a...
At least I didn't pose a false paradigm.... I'm trying to justify buying some more moulds from RCBS, but I'm not sure I need anymore for the calibres I shoot right now.

Hey, all, I just got the two-die set of 8x56r dies from Lee, and the seat/crimp die isn't working out. The inside of the die is to narrow to accept a .338" diameter cast bullet. I fire re-formed...
I don't think it needs to be calibre specific, just which two moulds you pick if you could have only two, and why.
I've found most of my casting needs have been met by two moulds from Lee': The 312-185-1R (for the .303 Brit) and the 324-175-1R (for the 8mm Mauser).
The .312 mould can be sized down for a .308...

Hey, all, I know that *published* 8x56r load data is hard to come by, so here's a copy of the sheet that Lee included with their two-die set. PM me if you need a higher resolution photo of the...

The other reason that is my all-time-ever favorite forum is because you guys have the best looking rebuilt/repaired/refinished guns I've seen anywhere on the 'net.

Having been guilty of asking newb questions without doing research, I figured that a topic as technically complex as a paper patch (which can't POSSIBLY be all that difficult...) will have been...

I used a bit of bullet lube from the outside of a spare lubrisizer die. Maybe I'm just lazy, or something, but I can't bring myself to do a wet-wrap and then wait overnight to load the cartridges...

Yes, newbs are here exhuming ancient threads.... (sorry guys, I'm in the process of doing just that.)
I'm heading out to the range on Friday morning (Jan. 9) to test some paper patched bullets at...
