That's the trick. Use sawdust and leave a layer of ash on top. It'll float the sprue untill it melts it's way back down - kinda self fluxing that way.
If you maintain a steady rhythm, the PID will...

Darn! My last tin purchase was $10 /lb. and not That long ago.
Good thing I bought 10# :-)
I posted this before but it bears repeating.
I use cylinders and balls of tin.
I bored out an old...

Um, what kind of light? You only have ~ 25mA available depending on the SSR's internal current limiter.

If you look at the label on a modern can of Reloder7, Or ANY of the 'RelodeR" labels.
You will notice that the capital 'R's at the beginning and end of RelodeR have small slash marks on the extended...

getting better!!
Still a little weak on fillout of the band edges and base, but not bad.
Those should be square with the version you use of that mold - it's an older 'Ideal' if I remember what you...

TD4-SNR S = SSR main output, N = NO Alarm2 output, R = Relay Alarm1 output.
You don't have a second alarm to use.
You needed a SRR type minimum to get 2 alarms.
You could put an LED in the...

If It's a REX100 you can use the Auber instructions.
They sell a rebadged copy of that device.
Same with their single line display models, those are rebadged XLMs out of china.

PM replied.
The best way to do this is to just shorten the TCs you have now to a length you like.
And I'll send you an 'Extension Cord' that will go from the new end to the controller.
I do...

Yes, and I have them in stock. They are a female version of the plug on the end of the probe cable.
They don't have the exposed screws or the mounting flange of the panel plugs, It looks/work more...

If it's on one side consistently, and not the whole base, I bet you hold the mold at a small angle.
Try loosening the sprue plate a little for better venting of the last little bit.

I depends on the sights used more than anything else.
35 years ago I could shoot good groups out to 300 with good iron sights. Now I struggle to group at 100 with the same sights,
It isn't the gun,...

Nothing wrong with AL blocks, although I prefer brass to other types.
You can't compare the LEE 6 holer to the 2. Totally different critters.
I do hear the new style 2 hole from lee is a Much...
Forum: Casting Equipment
Well, the LEE 6 hole molds have AL sprue cutters. So the Idea has been around a while.
Forum: Casting Equipment
Well it was easier before the new rod was added.
[old style] Adjust the spout rod all the way up. It'll likely come out of the hole in the spout.
Add grit to that hole.
Lower the rod back in the...

No, just that little 'bulb' on the end.
I don't even recommend drill/tap anymore. A dollop of epoxy on the surface and push the probe in is all it takes.
BTW, I have a 'glue on' probe with plug...

You made a good choice.
with the valve lap you should be good to go for many years.
Most problems with the LEE 20# are actually user error.
Bending the 'handle' is the most common mistake.

well , the general consensus around here, by those that hold an opinion anyway, is that best thing to coat the inside of a mold with is Nothing.

Steal one your wife's large sewing needles. It'll pick it apart.
after you get enough undone you can trim it but with difficulty, it doesn't cut clean.
Then use heatshrink shrink tubing to hold...

I wouldn't worry about a few degrees of error.
The unit itself is only accurate to about 3ºC over it's full scale with a K type TC.
Plus the K type itself is not the most accurate thermocouple...

Well the Auber units are rated 10A@120V/5A@250V but if you don't like the Mypin price then you won't like that cost!
Where did you find a 48mm square controller for $12? Mypins run under $25.
I...

Well, you do realize that you're going to be sending 230V into the PID anyway.

And actually, I pointed out the...
