I am using that same mold and that is how deep I am seating mine. I have no problem with that depth in either of my Springfield 9mm(XD and XDs). Accuracy is still great for me at that depth.

What led you to that long of a bake time? I am shooting a Rem 700 with a 1:10 twist 20" barrel.

I am casting with wheel weights only. These were coated with a gloss blue powder for TC Coatings applied with the HF ES gun baked for 15 minutes at 400 then water dropped. I am using Lyman Cu gas...

I guess that is important info! These are at 100yds!

So I finally got around to more accuracy testing today. I shot 5-5shot groups. Each group was 175gr lead PC gas checked cast from straight WW. They were loaded over 37gr of 4895. Average velocity is...

I would agree with that distribution being shooter related except that with the SGKs I shot did not have that issue during the same shooting session. I have more results to post from today. I will...

Popper - I noticed the same trend. I plan on testing again in the morning if time allows. Definitely by Saturday. I will post some more feedback after.

I am talking about putting together a thick stack of loose bound magazines soaked in water to shoot. It is as close to ballistic gel as I am going to get.

I have some test results to share. I am shooting a Remington 700 .308 AAC-SD with Nikon 3-9x50 optics. These are my first rifle bullets that I have cast to shoot at normal velocities. ...

I have not had an opportunity to put together a wet pack yet. Weather should be good Thursday for the testing.

I left out some info on these bullets. I used HF black applied with the HF ES gun. I did coat these twice, once for the bottom and once to get the nose. These do not have GCs. I have since done some...

I am new to casting within the last year. Up to this point I have been casting for handguns only. I have just cast my first rifle bullets. I am using the Lee 300blk mold which casts a 230 BT. I had...

I am also doing the pre and post sizing. I have not done any without that process and my accuracy with my handgun rounds is excellent. I have a couple of rifle moulds on the way and will do the same...

What mold did you use for your .308? That is my next casting project. I am interested in what has worked for you.

So I shot both the gloss red and matte black 9mm today. They were identical loads. The matte black was consistently 25fps slower than the gloss red. I'm not sure if that tells us anything significant...

I agree. I started PCing with gloss red HF but have decided to do some matte black. I am going to do some comparisons with the two. I am curious if the velocities will be different. I will...

Just returned from the range. have attached photos of my targets. I shot 5 shot groups of factory FMJs, conventional lube lead, and Powder coated 9mm. The lead and the PCs were loaded over 4.3gr of...

I agree that this is the best method. I have spent the last week reading as much info as I could find on PCing to get ready. Now I will work on larger batches. I cast a bunch of 150gr 40 S&W HP...

Powder coated my first bullets today. Easier than I thought it would be. From opening my HF gun and black and Decker toaster oven to my first batch of PC bullets was about 45 minutes. These are some...

It is definitely slow going with a two cavity mould, but I like the result! Looking forward to testing powder coating on these new week.

I could not find the exact bullet in any of my manuals. The closest I could find was in the Modern Reloading Second Edition with a 90gr jacketed bullet. It referenced a starting load of 3.2 gr of HP...

Thanks. I am going to try powder coating next week. I have been reading some of the threads about that and it sounds interesting. I am not getting much leading with these, but I do some with my 9mm ...
