But to the uninformed, ie OP, this will drive people to continue to stock pile, which will effect our ability to buy ammo... like .22's.

Don, if you want to send them to me, I can tumble powder coat or Klass Kote, and send them back to you. I don't load rifle, don't shoot rifle much. PM me if your interested.

you have to treat PC coated like cast lead. i.e. more flare than jacketed
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
It's actually the epoxy paint, but I'm sure the PC does the same thing, I just haven't found any of the ones I PC'd.
I always like the threads with pics, so I thought I'd return some of the...

I'm just guessing, but putting LEAD near anything you consume is a bad idea.

I was fortunate to pick up a couple of bullets after they hit steel.

The problem is "yesterday" it takes 7 days to cure. Heat will help, but they still won't be fully cured for days. This is epoxy, which chemically cures, unlike powder coat that cures with heat. ...

Thanks bstone5, that's exactly what I wanted to see.

Anyone done .45 swc's with either PC or epoxy paint and piglet method? Wondering how well that leading edge coats.
Before you ES guys chime in, I'm not going to do that way.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Thanks for the input. I've been doing the epoxy paint, and piglet method PC since spring and have coated many thousands of bullets. I don't have to a bullet that looks perfect and I have guys...

Maybe this was covered in another thread and I missed it. Ok, this guy is using regular old oil based enamel to 2500fps. So I'm coating some now. If this works I will be very happy, 1 qt for 8.97...

That's exactly why I use KK. I've bought 2 toasters and neither one held temp within less than 100. I do use a heat gun briefly to cure quicker for following coats, but I've not bothered many...
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Ah, Klass Kote is a no bake epoxy paint. I and others have shot thousands this summer, no problems. You can warm them to 125, per KK's instructions to speed the curing process, but not needed. I...

buddy of mine used cera-coat, it goes on very very thin

I was about to post a very similar question, but did a search and found this thread. I got some lead, but it cast funny, very frosty, lead temp=650°, cooled mold to make sure that wasn't too hot,...

When I was doing PC and LT, I didn't bother measuring the LT, just the PC, cuz the LT evaporates off, and it's not actually part of the coating. I believe I used 1/2 teaspoon of powder for 1050grams...

I just give them a quick shot of Hornady OneShot and tumble them around. They slide right through the sizer, and it takes very little spray.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Well, based on looks I would agree with you, but another guy shot some groups and had better groups with KK, then he did the electrostatic spray. Not that his groups are definitive by any means.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Can you explain in a little more detail your process? Specifically, how'd you coat the entire bullet?
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
Just an FYI, the thinner is intended for spraying KK. The amount, up to 1:1:1, is dependent on ambient temp, and humidity. The hotter it is, the more thinner, cuz it's evaporates off quickly when...
