I agree.
You can eat the small game that you shoot with cast. With regular 22-250 loads, you’ll only find bloody chunks of that animal.
I’ve been a 22-250 fan since 1972.

That sounds like the one I had.

While pointed down range of course.

.22 Short HP is my favorite Bullfrog and squirrel round in revolvers and bolt action rifles. I brush out the chambers occasionally.

Try another brand to isolate the answer. If it splits also, that gun has a problem.
But it looks like bad brass to me.

The one Luger that I’ve owned was a 1923 Commercial Safe/Loaded 7.65 ( shooter grade)
I used 100 gr Speer Plinkers and had to use the maximum load for 85 gr bullets to get it to function.
