Years ago I took a three legged buck
I solved this problem in my model 29 by rolling around my lubed bullets in Lee liquid Alox. The problem I believe is that your bullets maybe too hard and keeping their lube in the bullet grooves.
I've had a Nikon on my 45-70 contender for 12 years. The round count is in the low thousands. Although a few mounts and rings , as well as grips, have failed, the scope is just fine.
Have shot cast in an H K P9s and in a Glock 36, and ha had no problems if I keep them clean
I have 16 incher that I can't tell you how many rounds have been thrOugh it. The 11 grain Unique load is pleasant enough to be fun. I've shot hot loads to mild loads and it has killed on scope and...

Also the books "Forty Years With The 45-70" and "The Paper Jacket" by Paul Matthews, available through Wolfe Publishing are wonderful resources.

I have done this and it works great. I used 3031 but always had a lot of unburied powder. Then I used unique and got a better burn. They just don't kick.

Not too long ago I handled a G & H take down circa 1929. It was well used and I should have traded everything I own to get it.

I regularly shoot 420 grain bullets out of 16 inch Contender. My velocities are about 1,250 fps, and the recoil is stout. I use a boxer's wrap on my right wrist and padded gloved. That. Wing said...

No 9mm will be as much fun as any centerfire contender. I have 7 pistols and carbines from 22 lr to 45-70 and everyone of them shoots very well. It wouldn't even be a question for me.
I don't...

I am not familiar with these dies. Can they work in a Corbin Silver series press and how much are they.

First if all thanks; I hope to see the article. My Ruger #1 was more finicky about the powder charge than bullet size with each bullet tried. I even shot a bunch of .452 230 TC bullets with Unique...

I use a similar load a lot in my Contender. First of all it's fun and it's a killer. Accuracy is all I need. I even have a cat fart load which is even lighter which I got out of Paul Matthews...

I would choose the 45-70 for the simple reason it is so much damn fun. I''ve loaded hot and light. I've played with paper patched and tons of cast bullets. Of course the 3030 offers the same...

My first military swede led to two more and then a target rifle. Finally I bought a used featherweight m70. They all shoot incredibly well. I use 120 Nosler BT for varmints through white tail and...
I got a bargain basement price on a Colt Officer's Model Match and now I am getting it fixed. I did find a good source of colt parts: www.coltparts.com. I got prompt shipment from them, and they...

For 1285 fps out of a 16 in barrel, I use 36 grains Rl 7 and a 405 grain bullet. I have used the remington and speer bullets extensively and gotten big holes, dead animals and not so much recoil. ...

Nobody is addressing the fact that some of these s.o.b.s who go into a shop and cleanout the primers are turning around and trying to sell them for a 100 bucks a 1000. Supposedly we are supposed to...
I had the same problem with my 29, but I won't bore you with my theories. I was shooting a commercial bullet with a hard blue lube. I tried putting some Lee Liquid Alox on them and that solved the...

First of all go to the Shilo Sharps Site and check out the prices of their rifles. Options can really change the price. Secondly, tang and globe sights vary hugely in quality and price. The MVA...

Years ago I picked a #3 and I fought and fought to get it to shoot. A local benchrester had one and finally had it rechambered to 221 to make it shoot. I just didn't want to do that to a clean...
The powders that I burn the most are 4198 and reloader 7. I have also used 2400, 3031, 4064, Unique, and 5744 to a lesser extent. All the powders had their good loads and their bad loads. I...
I guess what this whole exercise points out is that there are a lot of calibers that will do the job. My favorite 10 incher is a 41 mag. It kicks a lot less than a 44, hits about as hard and shoots...

I should have written I COULD NOT see the orange follower.
Nobody said I was a good editor either.

I learned a couple of lessons the other day from my Marlin 1895 CP: 1. clean the magazine tube once in a while and 2. pay attention ******.
I went to the range to try bullets from my new RD mold...
