1. I remember living in Cheney and those hot and dry days with a high fire danger.
3. Here is a link to a youtube video on how to install the sight.

Do a search on google for "m1 garand rear sight aperture" and you will find lots of places to purchase another aperature for your M1. eBay has a lot of them. Here is a link to a couple of sources....

Here is a picture of both of my 300 H&H's. One is a 1941 and the other is a 1949. My father purchased the 1949 one in the early 60's and used it a lot for hunting, including when he was a Elk...

Give me a few days and I will get it out and take some pictures. I will also include some pictures of the other one for comparison of the changes they made.

I also have a prewar 300 H&H mine being from 1941. I also have a pre 64 300 H&H from the 50's.
I agree that the stock does not look like a original one.
It looks like this one has been drilled...

Interesting. It would be nice if they had included some of that additional information. It did say it was not finished and they stopped work on it. I wonder what else they planned to do to it.

This was being done at the Winchester Custom Shop so I would think that they would want to have their name on it. That was why I just assumed that the SN and name hadn't engraved in yet.
Forum: Military Rifles
It looked very smooth where the SN is usually so I do not think so. I was wondering if they put it somewhere else so the could use the flat area for engraving or if they planned to add the SN later...

Don't think they would be making a prototype into a presentation rifle. Just not finished when he died and they didn't continue working on it.

Ran across this Winchester M1 in the Wyoming Firearms Museum.

I do desire to buy the powder locally with cash. H335 is available locally as well as N140 and I do have a pound of N140 on hand. In doing an internet search I found this on another site. ...

Problem is that IMR 4895 is unobtainium. Looking for something that is obtainable.
Forum: Military Rifles
I assume that you are also using 150gr bullets? That powder is available locally and is one of the ones I was looking at. Is this the only one you have used and how do you like it?
Thanks

No, loser buy's the round at the local watering hole.[smilie=l:

I just worried if I hit and killed them, not where I hit them.

I mainly use my 243 for shooting sage rats. A little off on the accuracy I wouldn't worry about.

Good excuse to go shopping for another gun.

Just looked and don't see AA2520 locally but will add it to my list to keep an eye out for.

That or one of the 4895's is what I was going to do until I went looking for powder. I am unable to find 4064 or 4895 locally so that is the reason for asking what others have used that they like.
Forum: Military Rifles
That looks like it might work, especially if I load some 168grs and it is available. While it is not in Gordons reloading burn rate table it looks like it is between leverEvolution and Varget.

As I mentioned I was looking for someone with experience using a different powder, one that was currently available locally. I would love to use 4064 and will use what I have left but it is...

As the title says I am looking for a powder that is available to load some rounds for the M1. I do have some 4064 that I will use up but then trying to decide on some new powder that is readily...
