Thank you sir. That information clears up a lot of my curiosity & questions for this powder in 308W. I believe I'll stick with using LvR in the 30 WCF only.

Mr. Gibson, I'm curious of your results with this powder in the 308W and what weight boolits you were testing. Your info with this powder and the 311041 in 30 WCF helped me with my Lee 170g FP in the...
Well, I got my two 1911 barrels back from Doug about a week or so ago. So far so good. I put fifty rounds through each one of them with the Lee 230g TC on top of 5.5g of HP-38. OAL=1.210"
Zero...
I believe it's probably an 18lb just comparing how thick & stiff it looks versus a known 16lb. A little harder to hand cycle the slide also.
Thanks Kirk. I just sent two barrels to Doug less than a week ago. They are in transit back to me as I type this. Looking forward to getting them back.
Thanks so much for the information. I now have these numbers written down in my 45 Auto notebook.
Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated. I think I'm going to need to get the barrel throated for those proper overall lengths. Probably send it to dougguy after the weekend. As for current...
I'll make a dummy round starting at 1.275" & work my way shorter to verify. These were some loads I had that worked well in a different 1911. I also have a couple of checkmate mags with the tapered...
I don't think I've shot any factory ammo since I started handloading & casting in 2009. Lol. I'll try these next. NOE 230g RN at 1.230" & .470" crimp & 5.5g of hp-38. One change at a time....
First of all, thanks for all the replies. The reason for the short oal's is not being able to pass the plunk test with longer lengths. I knew it was probably too short, but thought I'd give it a...
Does this look like a weak magazine spring problem or possibly too heavy of a recoil spring or combination of both? Ruger SR1911. Factory magazine & springs. Lee 200g rnfp. 7.0g of Power Pistol....

My chronograph results have been between 1000 & 1050 fps with 6.0 grains in 38 Spcl brass. To duplicate that velocity in 357 brass, I use 6.5 grains. My GP100 has the 4" barrel...

Here's a great article by John Taffin with load data at the bottom that may help. I've been using the exact load you're asking about for years in my GP100. Great load.

What do you guys do about powder sticking to the lube where the gas check would be?
Thanks for the info. My New Vaquero just arrived at Ruger two days ago. Just waiting to hear from them. Hopefully my experience with them will mirror yours.
Thanks for the info. I usually only load 50 to 100 rounds at a time & always dump the powder back in the container when I'm done. Good to know though.
Well, I called Ruger yesterday afternoon. They helped out on the shipping, so hopefully it won't take too long to get back.
Thanks for the info. Dang shipping is what hurts!!
Well, I went out & shot a known standard pressure round in the suspect chamber. I couldn't eject the case with the extractor rod. What now? Send it to Ruger for a new cylinder?
This is a medium frame, not the larger standard Blackhawk size.
I had to remove the cylinder when I got home and hammer the brass out with a punch. My first and only experience with anything overpressure, I hope....
