Should be an "M" LBC, 1961, tang safety.

David Royal has published a fine book on the 99 with LBC code and serial number history, among other things.

1977 is the date of manufacture. The letter is in the serial number, not part of the lever boss code/LBC which is a different matter. There is no LBC in 1977, 1967 was the last full year for that....

1973 year of manufacture.

Because they didn't make the '92 after about 1945 therefore no option. The '92 is the better pistol caliber rifle, '94's can be hit or miss on feeding short cartridges.
