It's easy to play yesterday's ballgame, woulda, coulda, shoulda. Don't get drawn into that, not healthy for anyone here.
I'm thinking prices won't drop, will continue to hold at best. Startup...

6 string, you hit the nail on the head regarding heavy revolver bullets. They don't need the speed and actually are more wind resistant near and below the speed of sound than a few 100 FPS above it....
Good to hear, shot IHMSA 4 decades back. Was an enjoyable experience.
Keep posting updates and a summary on the event if you can, I'm sure others would like to hear about it.
I used an SBH in the standing class decades back, the load was the Keith bullet, initially purchased and later home cast. Federal brass, CCI LP, 10.0 grains of Unique. Not a hand howler by any...

Are the primers showing proud after being fired? I ask as I did a short batch with reformed 06 brass in my 91 and they all had the primers back out some. All fired, but not a desirable situ.
It's...

35 Rem: Also did not like the fact that rimfire group size is not linear out to 100 yards. 100 yard groups would be nearly twice what 75 yard groups were sometimes.
I found this in trials...
Jerry Miculek covers some wear issues and how to avoid them in one of his utube vids. Definitely worth catching, could help avoid parts replacement over the long haul if followed.
Also running...
Weaver made one decades ago, had a yoke that fit around the barrel and attached where the rear sight was located.
I'm curious if a thin sheet of paper between the barrel and mount could be done...

$80+ for primers locally when they have them and mid 30s to over $70 for a pound of powder. Selection has gotten somewhat better but many still not obtainable.
My LGS had some Hodgdon and IMR...

If the built up area where the cutoff is located has a corresponding built up area on the stock, basically protecting it, then it wouldn't be a Winchester stock, likely a replacement.

I bought an M1 thru the DCM in the early 80's and it had the paper tube in it then. Most likely they all did prior to shipment from the DCM.
Besides the tube it had only a light preservative...

Nice purchase, mine was about the same $$$ IIRC and it's no where near as nice as that! Whoever had it shot it so much that the wood near the nipple was burnt away and they made a brass insert to...
Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
I've a box of 6mm cases the former owner had formed to 6.5x55 and he was a jacketed bullet shooter. Probably not heavy loads and the cases look fine. I'll try them with some cast over the winter.

I've a Zoli Zouave that shot well, only used it as a backup while in the NSS-A. Lyman 315 gr w/c, Lyman 460 grainer, like the original, they both shot well.
Unless there's something regarding...
I've been seeing a lot of good reviews on the Tisas 1911's, which is a good thing. Hope the price point doesn't have a big change soon.
I'm a 45acp guy but I'd be tempted to check out the 10mm.

I think that at this point in time it isn't that the prices are crazy but that the dollar has dropped much lower in worth the past few years. There isn't much in the way of good used anything for...

firefly1957, can you add more about the spray painting and baking for your cast? Paint brand/color, time and temp in the oven, what type of oven, finished diameter, etc. It could be a less involved...

Good to hear you got it started, yeah bad fuel will wreak havoc on a lot of stuff, especially newer vehicles. Drain/dump what you can, add a dry gas and fill with premium or the best fuel you can...

Head gaskets and axles along with wheel bearing replacement are common on these. I work at a Subaru shop and it's pretty common for all the above. HG issues much less with 2010 and newer but can...

That's a decent start, you could bump the charge a little or try a slower powder to get the velocity up for repeatable results. Slower powders seem to work well for heavier hunting level loads with...

I got a Lyman package with the sizer, melter and a 429421 mold to start shooting handgun silhouettes with my SBH in the early 80's. Then 45 acp for bullseye, 30 cal for rifle silhouette and now for...

Shooting some 40's ammo with cast here, works fine. I've not had any older, much from the 50's and 60's though.
