The flip side question: What size target do you shoot at?
I started shooting at 25 yards. At the time it was the shortest distance available. As the decades passed shooting at 25 yards for...
Excellent!
The Texas course of fire is 20 rounds at 3 yards, 20 rounds at 7 yards, and 10 rounds at 15 yards. Not exactly difficult, especially the way they score it. The maximum score is 250....
Good idea. That why I got the Target/Match versions of the ones I bought. They have adjustable sights with a giant rear sight blade. I hope you enjoy it.
I have one of each. A 9mm Springfield Stainless Loaded Target and a .45 Kimber Gold Match II. The 9mm is tough to find accurate loads with lead bullets. You can expect to work on that for a long...
Good point.... but the Beretta 84's (and clones) are blowbacks with springs under the barrel.
Mine favorite for the last couple of decades has been 4.0 gr of W231...loaded short.
Looking at a couple of recent completed gunbroker auctions...that could be about right.

The contact information above for Alan Aronstein should be your first stop. He's also often on the High Standard section of rimfirecentral.com. That would be a good place to post looking for a sight....
Huh. I guess I'm the only one that never had a problem with this. I have .357's that I've fired tens of thousands of .38 Special rounds through and never had a problem chambering .357 rounds. I just...
I'll confirm that rear sight is not correct. My guess is it's a fixed rear sight from another High Standard model. If they didn't modify the dovetail you might be able to find an original. The HD...
The most interesting multiple projectile project I ever saw was detailed in some decades old gun magazine. The writer took a Colt Lawman MK III (a common gun in those days) and bored the chambers all...
Pretty sure "Marcas Registradas" is Spanish, not Latin. They were having problems with Spanish and South American fakes so it makes sense they'd do it in Spanish...not Latin.
For the record I...
I have a late 60's vintage Model 14. I got it from a club member for a fair price. He saw me shooting my 6" Model 66 and asked if I might be interested another revolver....uh, yeah. If I ran into the...
FYI: I've found a method for correcting the sideways picture phenomenon. Download the photo and open it with an image editor. MS Windows Paint works fine, but every editor I've tried works. Once...
Uh.... a .32 brush?

Reading this thread and I come away with the feeling the 9mm is highly variable. My own experience is.
I'm really a revolver guy, but a couple of years ago it occurred to me that this whole...
Maybe this will help. If the link works.

The fate of the current High Standard Corporation is somewhat in doubt. You can always...
I think this applies only to manufacturers. By "registered" they just mean their records. There records show that serial number shipped equipped in X manner and this is reported to the ATF. There is...

The easiest way to clean and strip all the rust or crud off a cast iron pan is to put it in your oven upside down and run the oven on self-clean. It will strip it down to bare cast iron.
The only thing I'll add is maybe that red ramp was added after-the-fact. It was quite popular to retro-fit red ramps on older guns after S&W introduced them.
Also, a bit of freckling on one...
I think I'd lock it in a vice, load it with a compressed load of Titewad, and pull the trigger with a very long string. Just for grins.
I've been looking for a lighter load for extended range shooting with a 215gr commercial cast LSWC (SnS Casting). I tried 6.0-6.5 gr of Trail Boss. That worked very well. But at indoor ranges it...
