If my old Ohio / RCBS pro melt starts to have a drip, I'll heat the pour spout with a torch and tap the top of the rod lightly. This has always worked for me.

I also bought a lot of primers when obama was on the loose. I still have at least 100k stored in 4 different family locations. Many box's marked either $27 or $32 so I'm set for a while.

Lasting a few years should not be a problem. I have two "Ohio" pro melt pots. These were made before RCBS bought the rights to mfg them. You can set several ingots on top of the pot to preheat them....

In the past Iv'e used spent primers on top of the lead core. I wasn't able to recover any of the 40 cal bullets so I have no idea if they expanded as I expected.

When I first started out casting/lubing lubing, I used a metal plate under the lube press I bought a cheap travel iron from a 2nd hand store for heat. That served well for many years.

I do them by head stamp. I weigh each one and core together add lead shavings before core seating to get my desired weight.
