I have the 7.5" bfr w/ choke for 410. I can say they choke DOES make a big difference. no problem breaking clays and does give me a fairly tight pattern.

Yes I have in 45 acp, and found no problems. After a 100 or so rounds it was still consistently accurate out of my 1911, and I found no leading, so I would say go for it.
