In regards to the 30-30 case being "NOT very strong" i highly disagree. One has only to spend time around and read about the .219 Donaldson Wasp. It was loaded to very high pressure.

In speaking about velocities and pressures, if a fella had a 73 in 45 Colt, i wonder if the Reloader 7 trick would work here, also

I see load data using 240gr bullets and Reloader 7 powder in the 44-40. Has anybody used this load? And what 240gr bullet have they found that feeds well in an 1873?

I have been following this thread for awhile. I agree that the 73 should not be hot rodded too much. It is NOT as strong as a 92, no matter the improvements in metal. However, no less an authority...

Are there any home made lube recipes that will come close to the performance of LBT Blue, at 2000fps and above?

I knocked a hog off last Spring with the .45-70. 300gr RCBS cast WW+ 2% tin. 53.5 grs of H-322. He went down fast, and didn't even wiggle. Just lights out.

It would be damn hard to beat the 311284, heat treated, and driven to factory jacketed velocity
