Thank you to all. I do have plenty of holy black. I save it for the flintlocks in the current situation and I like the convenience of subs for cartridges.

Thank you to all. She will go a long way to keeping us fed for a while.
The alloy is used was 50-50 COWW to pure plus 2% tin. My standard.
I don’t know about expansion as it was very much a pass...

As a side note, I am 6’2 230lbs, and the Sharps has a 32” barrel. There’s a reason people like Kansas corn fed whitetails !

Finally got it done and made some meat… in the last 3 minutes of season. I was carrying my Pedersoli 1874 Sharps in 45-70. Lee 405 pushed at about 1350fps by Blackhorn 209.
It is the last day of...

Thank you to everyone for your advice and input. I actually found a 45-70 Pedersoli 1874 Sharps half round half octagon sold to me by a forum member that lives in Kansas too. So no shipping or...

Jedman...What I have found is a High Wall. A Rolling block, or Trapdoor would be ok too. I would love a Sharps but they will be out of budget. Iron sights. Tang sight ready. Definitely not scoped. I...

I don’t have the gun. It is modern. A Uberti. I am researching to see if I want to get it. I am looking for a single shot in preferably 45-70, but like everything else they have gotten scarce and...
Forum: Single Shot Guns
This is kinda what I was thinking. Then I could choose the barrel length and contour for the 45-70 and still have the 45-120 if I could ever find brass for it.
Forum: Single Shot Guns
Yes. It was a typo. I fixed it. Sorry about that. That is what I was thinking. From the little I have learned about single shots is that barrel work is relatively straightforward as long as the...
Forum: Single Shot Guns
That was my guess. But rifles are hard to find at the moment, and everyone thinks they are gold plated currently so I was hoping it wasn’t too bad. I suppose I could just completely rebarrel it.

Hello,
I am looking for a single shot 45-70 reasonably priced. I have dies and moulds and several hundred cases. I however haven’t been able to find one. I did however find a High Wall in 45-120....

I have found amusment in the attitude of black powder level 38-40, 44-40, etc being underpowdered yet 10mm is the bestest thing ever. I think perhaps it is the color and plastic used in the guns that...

For rat sized critters I would say #12. Rabbits I would want a larger shot like 7 1/2. I get overrun by packrats. They make huge messes. #12 works just fine on them.

I'm in Kansas too. I didn't realize our licences were so much higher than most places. Lol

Looks like the start of a whole bunch of fun. Nice thing about those little guys is you can do a lot of shooting on not much powder and lead ! Enjoy !!

Congrats on the TVM. I've been drooling over them for a while now. Will be a .32 for me. I have several .36 and up but something about a small caliber flinter just needs to be filled.

That is a great deal on real black. Congrats !

I had a 94AE in 45 colt. Although it fed and shot fine I never did like the feel. It was far from smooth and I agree, just had a clunky feel to it. I much prefer the '92 for pistol caliber.

A Rossi 16" '92 is on my short list. All I have to do is find one. They seem to be scarce here lately.
Forum: Leverguns
I had to go Winchester. I think the '73 is the best feeling rifle ever made. 92's are splendid too.

I have a Pedersoli Officers Model. Very nice rifle. Accurate. Pedersoli has a pretty obscure and hard to find pressure rating listing on their cartridge rifles. It rates their trapdoor pretty...

I have an older model Pedersoli long range Creedmore in 45-70. Had it for pushing 20 years. Wonderful rifle.

I load Blackhorn 209 with a .030 wad per load data under a lee 405 ( both flat base and hollow base ). It'll have some compression. Works great for me in several 45-70's.

I like 5744 or 3031 in 30-30 under cast.
