I water drop everything because that is how I started. I never even knew it was hardening em when I did it back in the 70's
I did it because it was just easier for me. I could reach in the...
my makarovs (three of em) all shoot at least 10" high at 25 yards.
I don't know.. an accurate load that shoots a 245 grain slug at almost 1400 fps.. what would you suggest I buy to duplicate it ?
What gun in Ruger redhawk size or n frame size will shoot a 245...
19 grains of AA#9 with either a 240 JHP or my 245 saeco give me 1370 fps from a 7 1/2" redhawk from my chrono yesterday.
Interesting discussion. I have 44 mag guns and I have a lot of brass and molds and whatever for em.
Now, I have nothing really against 45 colt and like to shoot the round but.. two things keep...
Not sure what "small variations" means in real terms.. they seem to have an 820f that is faster yet.
I have loaded a lot of rounds with AA# 9 and am far more comfortable downloading it than I am...
I am torn between WW296 and AA#9 for best accuracy in 44 mag. The problem with 296 is that they want you to load only full house loads. I like slightly reduced loads and powders like AA#9 and blue...
It is my opinion that the federals are the best primer for revolvers. I think they are the softest.
On my redhawk.. I probly removed about 20 thou or so but it is hard to say since I tried and...
man I don't know how you guys are getting good groups with unique. For me it just makes dirty guns and lousy groups with any bullet. None of my 44 mags likes any reasonable charge of unique.

I don't know why anyone likes Unique in 44 mag. In my 4" guns I am lucky to get 4" groups from sandbags. It is about the least accurate for me of any of the powders and the dirtiest.
10 grains...

I just ordered 10k of federal large pistol match primers for $31 a thousand.. they were out of standard primers but I got match last time when someone else was out and they work great.
Federal are...
I have to agree with 44 man on the 3D thing. I never shot at ranges much until lately and am not thrilled with my groups. I find it is hard to hit a 3" bull at 25 yard but if I see a stick on the...
Ooops.. I meant to say what is the nose length from crimp grove to flat on the LBT 250 LFN.
If I understand the catalouge right it is somewhere between 0.35-0.40?
On the 280 LFN for the 44.. What is the nose length from crimp grove to flat? What is the overall length?
I use stick on 3" shoot and see's in black. I stick em on regular paper and put two of those (one on top of the other) on a standard (for my range) cardboard.
The three inch bull is small...
I have a Rehawk that is an earlier gun with the barrel cut down to 4" and I have a Dan Wesson with 4" and 8" barrels. I would not want either of those guns magnaported.
The sound defeats...
my posts are not accurate on hardness because.. I have no idea how hard my bullet are.. when I say that I water drop wheel weights it just means that I water drop wheel weights and they seem harder...
robs.. thanks. I drop the bullets right from the mold. I mean by that.. right away. The sprues go in the water too.. I cut em right over the bucket and open and drop.
well.. my point is that a bullet that is capable of 1"groups at 25 yards is gonna shoot at least twice as well as I can.
I do not doubt that some of you are shooting these 1" groups at 50 yards...
So what is the hardness of water dropped wheel weights (modern ones)?
Ed.. Oh, I understand that the subsonic 22's that are match quality are more accurate but just plain old pocket fuzz covered, dented up 1200 fps 22 ammo that is made of dead soft lead is more...
I wouldn't mind watching some of you guys shoot 1" groups from 4" 44 mag guns with open sights at 25 yards. or two inch at 50. Not saying you can't do it just that I don't see people doing it. ...
I have come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter. Not for me anyway.
I shoot 4" 44 mag guns and I can't shoot my water dropped wheel weight slugs any better or worse than 240 grain jacketed...
44man. I have been shooting for decades and casting slugs on and off since the late 70's.
I water dropped everything because it was easier for me to cast that way. I noticed that the bullets...
