Just buy the Loctite 308 Black Max and get on with life. It's made for this type of use and gun smiths use it for a sight adhesive. Removable with heat if necessary.

My Dan Wesson .22 will lead the forcing cone. Once it gets bad, I pick it off with a dental type 90 deg. pick. It usually comes off in one big piece.
Easy peasy in my case.

Not needed imho. I've put hundreds of rounds through my Garand wearing a tee shirt. It's a heavy rifle and the action absorbs a lot of the recoil.
