That would be most unusual but since I wasn't there I'll take your word for it.
I would tend to suspect a bad crown or inconsistent bore diameter in that order.

A chamber cast and bore slugging will provide the definitive reason if you're willing to go to the effort.

Kinda like many things in life. Quickest way to get yourself in trouble. Apart from being a general pain in the rear, that is.
I try to avoid both.

Shoot it 10x on 3 different days. See what you think then.
If you're happy, nothing else matters.

I'd guess a weight for an olde skool fire door in an industry building of some type.
Typically hung with a cotton rope. Rope burned through, door slammed shut.

I was just thinking...... people including myself worry about upholstery but buy used vehicles all the time.
There's really no difference. People do anything and everything in vehicles. Either...
I've used this method to increase the diameter of driving bands while leaving the rest of the cavity the same. I cast several bullets then just added abrasive to the areas I wanted to enlarge. Works...

I look around and buy used unless it's upholstery or bedding. Hard surface objects can be easily cleaned. The stuff with fabric and stuffing though..... Nah. Not interested.

I have read that code readers are available for airbag codes, however I am unsure about cost. I thought a small business owner or 2 might have some input.
Given my experience with vehicle repairs,...

I'd like some recommendations from members here on vehicle code readers. I've typically dealt with GM products but that won't always be the case necessarily. All I presently have is a very...

Nothing at all wrong with those methods. I do it the same way without any problems using a double spider and a floating reamer holder I built for myself.

You can use a tougher alloy and get both deep penetration and expansion also. Or shoot 54 caliber round balls. Nothing walks far with a 1/2" hole in it. Of course then there's drifting to worry about...

Very nice! I've been kicking the idea around myself. I'm also thinking of going with a 7-30 Waters. Did you fit your barrel to the stub from the original? If not, how did you deal with the underlug?...

So if I'm following your project explanation correctly, you're planning to do a 45-70 conversion on this?

There's a thread on this forum in the archives about a 'Billy Bob hardness tester'. I just go by that. I don't need perfection, an educated guess is plenty close enough for me.

As mentioned above, sounds a lot like Hamburger Soup only with vegetable swaps.
Good stuff!
That's true. I own a 44Mag but download it with 10 grains of Unique and shoot cast. It's more than needed.
I honestly don't know what useful purpose a 480 would fill. There are no moose or bears apart from black bears anywhere around. I hear rumors of mountain lions but I seriously doubt I'll ever see one...
Forum: Lead and Lead Alloys
Given that Whitetail deer and Black bear are the largest game animals I'll encounter locally this is WAY more than I'll need but that's OK with me.

When the time comes, I plan to go with a heavy bullet (> 400 grain), hollow point in soft lead (< 10 BHN) and black powder velocity.
If I can hit it, the target animal will have a VERY bad day.

You might try powder coating. Doesn't cost a lot to get started and might be just the ticket for something like this.
Depending upon the severity of the pitting, that is.
Tape on scope rings is NOT a method I'd recommend. It's a Band-Aid to mask an underlying alignment issue.
This sort of thing is why people have accuracy issues they can't solve.
Not that it...

The only thing I would add is this is a question only the person in the mirror can answer and it's something that can only be answered over a period of months.
We've all had bad times. They...
