What problem does this solve?

While I use a wrench to tighten mine down, I only go as far as it takes to compress the rubber o-ring. I've never had a die come loose or lose it's adjustment.

If you tote the 3 1/2" gun in the 4" holster too long or too often, gravity will cause the barrel will stretch till it fills out the holster. ;)

Working from memory, I ran 180gr XTPs with 13gr H110. I sold my GP100 to a friend a few years ago (after more than 10 years of ownership). He still has it and some of those loads.
