Also, those of you who load this, are you having any issues with OAL and the bottom of the boolit being swaged a bit?
Forum: Reloading Equipment
Interesting.
I've never had an issue with 38 brass and soup can wadcutters. I wonder if the boolit doesn't care if it is swaged a little at the bottom.
I did try a RCBS 38 Special expander die...

Tried an RCBS expander die and the Lee 38 S&W plug. No dice.
I should just load up a box and try it for accuracy.
Forum: Reloading Equipment
I bought the 38 S&W expander plug. If this doesn't work, I now have a spare to have turned down. Thanks!

I am seating MP HG275 boolits in 9mm cases. The profile of the boolit requires me to seat them deep. When I pull the boolits I find that they now have a boat tail profile since the case is too...
Thank you! Mine are dropping at 136 but I'm using a softer alloy.
Titegroup is a smidgen slower than Ramshot Comp. I'm going to try 2.5gr and try to work to 3.0. I'd like to move them around...
Does anyone have published or home developed load data for the HG 275 boolit in 9mm?
Preferably with Titegroup.
I'm using a MP Molds remake and data is (understandably) nowhere to be found. I...

Do all typewriters (up through the electric word processor types) contain linotype?
I'm not going to scrap a 1920s Smith Corona but if the 1980s electric machines have lino... I'll do it.
I convinced myself to buy an MP H&G 275 mold. 8 cavity, aluminum, H&G design, what's not to love?!
Yes.
To everyone: thank you for your suggestions so far.
I still have a lot of homework to do, but I like the low cost/quick ship of MP molds so far.
Hey all, I'm still a bit of a casting newbie and I'm looking to buy a new 9mm mold.
I currently own a Lee 120 TC six cavity and a H&G 115 which was custom ordered to be undersized for some reason....
Forum: Cast Boolits
Oddly enough, I am using a flat top punch. The bottom punch is slightly concave which didn't help. Some I definitely bashed the noses on when sizing and I had to toss 'em.

I'm using a Lyman 450.
I've missed casting. Thanks!
Forum: Cast Boolits
It's been a great while since I last casted boolits. I casted the following boolits with a Lee 120-TC six cavity and I think they're out of round? After running them through my lube sizer I noticed...
I know this is more of a reloading question than casting, sorry..
I'm a newb with casting/reloading for shotguns but I would like to start loading an extremely tight patterning buckshot load. The...

Carb dip seems promising.
I soaked my M&P barrel for two hours or so, and I was able to knock out 90% of what's left.
My dad's Shield barrel is pretty fouled. I'll give that an overnight soak...

I've been brushing with Hoppes. New bronze brushes, stainless steel brushes, chore boy.. all no dice.
I am going to try the vinegar/peroxide soak. Will use safety precautions.

I've done lots of research on the copper pad+bore brush trick.
It isn't cutting it for me. I can't seem to get all of the lead out of the grooves in my 9mm Shield.
Is too much a bad thing? I...

Can you measure the metplat for me?
I have a Lyman 311316 I want to upgrade to a double cavity. Similar to the Lee. I love the boolit but the flat points jam in my M1 Carbine.
I am pretty sure the cause of the defect was factory burrs or damage. The bullets will not drop without persuasion so I probably damaged them further.
What is the best way of doing so? Jewelers...
This is going to be tough to explain..
The edge along the base on my Lee 120 TC 9mm has a bevel to it as part of the mold design. I suppose it is there to aid in seating.
On three of my...
