the crimps usually come out bad because the column is too tall... that's why the short wad combined with the 7/8oz slug works so well on a crimp. :bigsmyl2:

Yeah I would reserve such a task for "neccesity for hunting ammo when the only thing available is birdshot". This is not something I Would consider fun unless you like torturing yourself hahah
Black powder is going to benefit from the extra barrel length. Having shot plenty of BP out of a 18.5" barrel... I can tell ya there's still PLENTY burning... big ol fireball coming out the business...
Heh heh... WHAT PART of Alaska!
For me in Jersey everything shotgun reloading except powder is readily available. Heck even loaded birdshot/turkey/etc are all in stock in stores. 22... different...
You can buy factory new primed hulls without paying for hazmat...
I found it to be a pita... So I just reload em from empty hulls now hahah. I mean you'll go through all this effort cracking open the crimp, policing shot, trying to stuff a slug back in there. ...
thats just pressure data... shows nothing about how accurate the load is going to be.
I think you're dead on with the card under the slug... its gotta be there or you will wreck the base of the...

If that wasnt enough you can listen for 6 more minutes...
So I couldn't be happier with the slug and wad performance on this setup. The pedals are all in perfect condition up near the top, they clearly show they were engaged in the rifling, and they all...
This entire shot column weighs bout .9 oz with a 7/8oz slug. Ya the 47gr blue dot 1oz slug loads really ripped. Talk about making a steel plate dance at 50 yards HAHAHA!!!
They are the clear 2-3/4" Cheddite hulls from BPI. Comes primed... saves me a step! I toyed around with roll crimping as well... ended up deciding fold crimp was the hot setup. I gotta tell ya...
Ive been working on perfecting a 12ga lee drive key slug handload. I've gone through a few revisions of components. I was shooting blue dot powder but had issues with it igniting whenn I was out in...

same... I pour, wait a couple seconds, then move the mold over to a cotton rag with some snow on top. You're ready to pop em out in like 15-20 seconds.
