1903 Ejector Problem

I recently purchased a sporterized 1903A3 with a National Ordnance receiver. This is my first '03 and I didn't realize until I got it home that the ejector is missing. The pin is there, just no ejector...

Anyway, I ordered one from Sarco and have been attempting to install it. It will go into place no problem, but when it's installed it blocks the bolt from going forward. The tip appears to stick out too far for the slot in the bolt, and if I rock it forward, the back of the ejector blocks the bolt from moving forward. Is there something I'm doing wrong??

It's been a while since I messed with the ejector on an M1903, but your description has me wondering if your receiver is a blem, or second. You probably already know about the history of National Ordnance and their investment cast receivers. That may be why the ejector was originally removed.

You may be on to something there. Yes, I am aware of the history of the NO receivers, but the idea of it being a blem hadn't crossed my mind.

And yes, the ejector I bought looks just like the one pictured.

Check the rear of the left locking lug. If the bolt has been slammed open against the cutoff too many times, the slot for the ejector can get peened over and reduce the size of the slot, causing interference with the ejector.
