I recently acquired a box of western, improved, non corrosive primers, in battery cups, for smokeless powder. These are No.3 primers. Anyone have any idea what these were for and age ?

Can you post a picture?
Battery cups are/were used to reload shotgun primers.
The internet says they are shotgun primers. I think they are pre 1950 primers.
I remember back in the 60's, reading about recharging shotgun primers by replacing the battery cup in the primer, using the anvil and outside cylinder. Was supposed to save a lot of money on shotgun primers but did require multiple steps to rebuild the primers.
I'm ignorant on this subject but love to learn new things. Any links?
