I got up to the cabin for 1 week at the end of May....over Memorial Day...it was Beautiful.
I couldn't drive to the cabin as the road was washed out due to heavy rain and the run-off from the snow melt. But the 1/2 mile hike up to the cabin from where I parked the truck wasn't too bad if I wasn't carrying a heavy load. The grass was knee high to waist high. The weather was good, mostly sunny with some thunder showers at night. I split wood and cut grass around the cabin. Mostly just enjoyed the peace and quiet.Attachment 314770Attachment 314773
the young mule deer (buck) was enjoying the coolness and shade under the cabin.

You are truly blessed. Congrats and hope you have many more years up there with a lighter pack.

If we sit down we die. I cannot stand to be inside and watch the TV or play on my computer very much at all.
I WANNA BE OUTSIDE!! And doing things. I love the GREAT outdoors.
At 64 I have been planning my first thru hike on the Ouachita Trail. Hopefully next spring :)

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm pushing 70 also. And I still do "fringe" stuff, like tent camping in the low teens.
What is life if it is not an adventure?
