Drawing back jackets
My question is what temperature is used to draw back new J4 jackets ? In this case drawing back is heat to draw back work hardened jackets but not anneal to dead soft. I can find info where R G Robinett says it is needed when forming boat tail bullets but not what temp he takes the jackets to.

How far are you drawing the jackets to? I've drawn from .425 to .395 and also .350 to .305 without any heat and have no issues.

He is drawing back to a softer state but below anneal soft temperature. No sizing involved other than to swage the boat tail.

It would be a combination of time and heat. I use my kiln at 400 deg Celsius for 15 min to draw them back a little. That is doing 1000 22LR cases at a time though. Then I derim. You will need to experiment a little to see what works with your gear.
