can I use the same load, 6.3 grains of bullseye powder for a 250 grain round nose flat point as for a 250 grain swc both being lead boolits?
As long as I keep the oal length with the limit for 45 colt. I have once fired starline brass, and my brother used to say starline brass was almost match quality brass.
The Lyman Cast bullet manual #4 and previous editions have always shown slight differences in powder changes between the #454190 & # 452424/454424.
However I've loaded both over identical powder charges all My life, as My Dad did before me.
I think the factory duplication load of Bullseye for .45Colt is about 5grs.
Standard 45 Colt I show (Speer) a max charge of Bullseye at 7g for 250g LSWC. Plenty of room so seating depth won't change much. I would use your same load for a RNFP.
I started loading back in the late 1970's with the free manuals the powder companies used to give away. They typically listed loads by bullet weight instead of a particular bullet. I still load that way most of the time unless it's for something really out of the ordinary like the monolithic rifle bullets which are likely to yield significantly different pressure compared to standard bullet designs. I would interchange the two bullets you are talking about with that load and not worry about it at all.
Technically there would be a difference, but you’d have to split a lot of hairs to find it.
