follow the instructions : it works
very little effort with cleaning rod, it does no damage, I've eliminated barrel deposits impossible to remove with anything else from a '37 milsurp so encrusted that I thought it pitted.
Gentlemen! Thanks for sharing what you know from your experience, along with what products to use, plus suggestions and ideas.
I looked at what Brownells has, and found everything, except GI bore cleaner.
Regarding GI bore cleaner, I have a copy of General Julian S. Hatcher's indispensable book for those who own U.S. military firearms from the 1898 War with Spain to the Korean War, Hatcher's Notebook, which may very well have the recipe for the GI bore cleaner listed in it, IF its ingredients are still available.
I now have some homework to do!
Winger Ed nailed it on post 20.
If you want something like GI bore cleaner try Ed's Red. Easy to mix up and it works well.
Kerosene, mineral spirits, acetone and ATF. Lanolin optional.
